grandma died (pt. 2)

It’s weird to finally utilize the dead family member excuse. Something I’d never wanted to check off my not-actually-a-bucket- list but bucket-list list. It was an inevitable card I would have to play, as it happens to everyone (that’s why it’s such a popular move). I never understood why people took full advantage of the benefits only when their excuse wasn’t valid. When the obituary was sent in to enjoy their week and a half long vacation in Mexico. The people that’ve actually experienced a family death know you just want life to remain as normal as possible. Everything changes with a singular phone call, one that you wish you could have just let go to voicemail, anything that allows you to live in a world where you both exist, for just a little bit longer. Or at the very least just in your own conscious.
