irony of love

You don’t realize how many colored glasses you wear until you fall out of love with someone. The irony in the phrase “to fall out of love”, as if you fall in love the same way you come out of it. To fall in love makes sense, you don’t often see it coming, like a curb on the sidewalk- you trip, stumble, and then fall. There is no preventing it once gravity takes its course- you are simply just down for the count. Some counts are lifelong and others are not long enough. 3, 2, 1, and you’re out the same way you came in. Expect that falling out of love has almost nothing to do with falling, besides maybe falling apart. Falling out of love is more of a process than a surprising accident. And of course there are the instances when it does seem to “just happen”- to fall out of love, but I believe those that are capable of that, had never seen love to begin with.
